Kecipir, Tanaman Potensial di Indonesia



Satu lagi kekayaan hayati yang hampir tak tersumberdayakan bahkan hampir terlupakan di masyarakat yaitu kecipir. Kecipir atau Psophocarpus tetragonolobus (L.) DC ini merupakan tanaman asli tropika dan tersebar di seluruh wilayah Indonesia. Di beberapa daerah dikenal dengan nama Kacang belimbing (Sumatera Utara, Sumatera Barat), Kacang embing (Palembang), Jaat (Sunda), Cipir, Kecipir (Jawa), Kelongkang (Bali), Biraro (Menado, Ternate). Beberapa pendapat akademisi terhadap kecipir:

Sejak 1975, kecipir ternyata telah diprediksikan akan sangat menjajikan di masa depan sebagai bahan hayati bernilai ekonomi tinggi dan memiliki segudang manfaat. Tetapi kenyataan saat ini keberadaannya justru tidak disadari oleh masyarakat. Oleh karena itu mari kita telusuri kembali apa itu tanaman kecipir.

Parameter pengolahan Air limbah Industri

Dalam pengolahan air limbah industri dikenal 3 parameter utama yaitu: (1) Oksigen terlarut (OT) atau Dissolved Oxygen (DO), (2) Kebutuhan Oksigen Biologis (KOB) atau Biologycal Oxygen Demand (BOD) dan (3) Kebutuhan Oksigen Kimia (KOK) atau Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD).

Sebagian besar makhluk hidup dalam air membutuhkan oksigen untuk mempertahankan hidupnya, baik tanaman maupun hewan air, bergantung kepada oksigen yang terlarut. Ikan merupakan makhluk air dengan kebutuhan oksigen tertinggi, kemudian invertebrata, dan yang terkecil kebutuhan oksigennya adalah bakteri.

Sistem Kabel Superkonduktor Terpanjang Di Dunia

Korea Selatan mulai menginstal kabel distribusi listrik superkonduktor di dekat kota Seoul pada pertengahan tahun 2010. Bulan April kemarin, perusahaan kabel raksasa negara tersebut, LS Cable mulai memesan superkonduktor 344 sepanjang 50 miles dengan jenis second-generation high-temperature superconductors (HTS) dari American Superconduktor Corp (AMSC). Rencananya kabel tersebut akan digunakan pada sistem kabel 22,9 kV sebagai bagian dari jaringan penghantar listrik komersial Korea Electric Power Corp (KEPCO). Sistem kabel ini akan mencapai panjang 50 mil dan mampu menghantarkan listrik sebanyak 50 MW.
“Sebagaimana kasus di berbagai negara di seluruh dunia, permintaan kebutuhan listrik korea juga meningkat tajam dan kami mengandalkan berbagai sumber energi terbarukan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut,” kata Kim Ssang-su, CEO KEPCO. “Dengan kemampuan mereka membawa energi listrik dalam jumlah besar, kita akan melihat sesuatu yang menjanjikan dari teknologi kabel superkonduktor ini dan menanti penginstalan sistem pertamanya.”
Sebuah kabel yang dibuat dari kawat HTS didalamnya dapat menghantarkan listrik mencapai 10 kali lipat lebih banyak dibandingkan jumlah listrik yang dapat dihantarkan oleh kabel tembaga dengan diameter yang sama. Dengan mengganti kabel tembaga dengan kabel HTS dan dengan memanfaatkan jaringan terowongan bawah tanah yang sudah ada, suatu kota akan mendapatkan kepadatan arus listrik yang lebih tahan lama dan jaringan listrik yang lebih terjaga keamanannya tanpa menggali jalan-jalan kota. Superkonduktor 344 dari AMSC yang mulai diproduksi tahun 2007 ini memiliki sebuah fitur yang mampu mengurangi biaya produksinya, menurut keterangan perusahaan tersebut.
Korea selatan telah melakukan pengembangan dan komersialisasi sistem superkonduktor beberapa tahun, dengan menghabiskan biaya tidak kurang dari 100 juta U.S. Dollar pada program yang diberi nama Development of Advanced Power Systems by Applied Superconductivity technologies (DAPAS). Selama tahun 2006 dan 2007, negara tersebut melakukan berbagai percobaan sistem kabel superkonduktor pada panjang 30 meter dan 100 meter untuk jenis kabel superkonduktor 22,9 kV menggunakan kawat HTS generasi pertama AMSC. Instalasi kabel di Korea Selatan ini akan mengikuti beberapa pengaturan kabel superkonduktor menyesuaikan pada jaringan listrik U.S.
Pemegang rekor dunia untuk pertama kalinya menggunakan sistem superkonduktor ini adalah Long Island, U.S. pada bulan April 2008. Sistem kabel 138 kV sekarang sudah menjadi bagian sistem permanen penghantar listrik utama Long Island Power Authority (LIPA). Pada kapasitas penuh, sistem kabel LIPA dapat menghantarkan listrik mencapai 574 MW. Proyek superkonduktor lain kini sedang direncanakan untuk kota Mahattan, N.Y., dengan mendapat dana bantuan dari Department of Homeland Security U.S.
